The Big Picture

Is it easier to get back to balance now that spring has arrived? Let the art of writing take you there.

When the dull of winter is replaced by the light of spring it is easier to see the bigger picture in all things. The long and bright evenings bring perspective and clarity. More light to write and time to attend to you.

Let us help you connect to the page with poetry. In the Big Picture course, which comes online this May in the WriteWell Community forum, you are guided to writing your first poem. Here’s a head start.

An acrostic poem starts when the first letter of each line spells out a word or phrase when read down the page. Take for example, Time.

The tick tock

Inserts a sense of unease in

Me that

Ends when I take the battery out.

Okay so it doesn’t rhyme and it’s not very lyrical and yet I like it. It helped me express how time makes me feel part of the matrix and I am choosing to opt out. I’m now a poet.

Start by choosing one of the following words – Nature, Light, Sing, Tulip.

Write or type the letters of the word in a vertical line. Take it slowly and give yourself time to grapple with the puzzle formation of this poetic form.

Isn’t it lovely how the connection to words in such a simple way can help you see something that wasn’t there before? That’s how the Big Picture works. Break it down into small manageable pieces and see how the information unfolds.
